The best thing about being a writer is when a reader loses his or herself in a story I've created. I love having the ability to create an entire world from scratch.
When we are kids, Legos, Lincoln Logs, and science kits can mesmerize us for entire days. As adults, we often lose the ability to pretend and lose ourselves in mindless fun. Writing allows me to daydream and play and actually have something to show for it.
My favorite part of the writing process is when I read back over something I've written and can't believe I actually wrote it.
