Goodreads asked Mallory Kane:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Mallory Kane This is a great question. I've recently struggled with a lot of difficulty writing. Several things contributed. I was in physical pain and thought I might have to have surgery. I was depressed, mostly because of the physical pain. And my husband had recently had a medical scare, so I was worried about him.

What I would say about dealing with the inability or the loss of desire to write, is what I say to anyone who wants to become published. Never give up! I'd add this: think about and search out what always helps/ed you write. Do/did you write in a particular place? Do/did you listen to particular music? Do/did you drink quarts of coffee or tea, or sip fruit juice or chew gum or suck on hard candy? Whatever you discover, see if you can recreate the feeling you got when you were 'in the zone,' and writing well. If going back to those old tried and true places or activities or sounds doesn't work, try to find new and different ones that will.

Most of all, I'd suggest that you write every day, even if it's just a few minutes. Writing begets writing. Writing is the best way to get back to writing. What should you write? A little short story, the beginning of a book, even just how you're feeling. But write! Write! WRITE!

Good luck!
