Goodreads asked Edward J. Nield:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Edward J. Nield I enjoyed reading Roger Lancelyn Green's books about the Greek myths and Trojan War as a child. As a student, I really enjoyed the Iliad and Odyssey, and also plays by Sophocles and Euripides. Yet I could not find a novel that really, for me, conjured up the colours and vitality of the ancient Mycenaean World. I was fascinated by what happened after the Trojan War and why Greece fell so quickly into a Dark Age. Therefore, I decided to write a novel about Andromache, wife of Hector, who survived the war and was taken as a slave woman to Greece by the son of Achilles, and to try to answer some of these unsolved questions.
