Goodreads asked David Michael:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

David Michael The only time in my life I have ever had writer's block was when I tried to outline my first book. I was new to the process and did it because that's what authors were "supposed" to do. Little did I know that my characters would take on lives and personalities of their own that often conflicted with the outline I had in place for them. Every time I tried to force one of them to do something that the character wouldn't naturally do, I hit a wall. It was infuriating. So I have up on plotting and now I just let my characters run rampant. They know what's best and I just have to trust in that. I can always edit in something I deem important later.
