Just read your vibrant PowellsBooks.com interview with book buyer Rhianna Walton. I loved "Devil in the White City", and can't wait to read "Dead Wake". As a youngish female, I don't have many friends who have discovered your awesome writing. How do you generally relate to your readers like me, and can we expect a can't-miss book topic from you in the future? Not that WWI is unrelatable...

I've been delighted to find that whenever I give a big talk, a substantial portion of the audience is under 30. This gives me a lot of confidence that books will endure. And that maybe I'm doing something right.

Isaac's Storm is my all-time favorite of your books. You described being in a hurricane so vividly. It still haunts me to this day. I love how you structured the book similar to the Devil in the White City, but the hurricane was the dark side. What called you to write about this hurricane in Galveston?

I'm a huge fan of your books & always enjoy not only your writing & the depth of research evident on the page, but the way you use structure itself (for example, the wild ride of bouncing back & forth between stories in THUNDERSTRUCK just waiting for them to converge in a sort of apex, like a wireless tower.) How do you approach structuring your books on a macro level?
