He BECAME his own unexperienced grief, in a way. It was also interesting how certain he was that he'd seen Black at Lizzie's one night, how obsessed he became with it... but perhaps it was only because he himself was at Lizzie's that night. In essence, he sees Black only in the places where he himself resides.(less)
