Derek asked David Dalglish:

Do you ever get into writing slumps, or experience writer's block? If so, how do you escape its evil clutches unscathed? Thanks, David!

David Dalglish Writing slumps? All the freaking time. I don't often get legitimate writer's block, just slogs where it's hard to maintain enthusiasm and keep my butt in the chair writing as long as I want to. For real blocks, I just skip the segment, and talk about the story with my wife or my friend Rob, bouncing ideas until something feels right.

As for a daily slog? Then I just cheat until I feel less lazy. You'll see stuff like this in my first draft all the time.
