Sara
Sara asked Scott Hildreth:

You are a fairly new writer, so when I see you putting out possibly one book per month (a bit exaggerated) I have to ask. Do you do anything besides write? I see you on Facebook and you seem like you have a life outside writing so, please tell.

Scott Hildreth I'm actually an old writer (emphasis on old), but a fairly new author of novels. I wrote poetry for a lifetime, and had a blog where I shared my poetry for a decade. Additionally, I wrote technical, satire, and theory (published on a monthly basis) for 16 years.

Three years ago, I decided to become a full time author.

So, to answer your question, my only income comes from writing. I do, however, have a life outside of being an author. Sometimes I wonder, because writing is a difficult thing to walk away from.

When working on a novel, I become immersed in the characters. I work 7 days a week, 12-16 hours a day until complete. It's difficult on my wife and kids, but for me it's necessary.

So, my cycle for writing a novel is about 6 weeks, which includes roughly 2-3 weeks off after 3-4 weeks of long exhausting days.

I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Great question.
