Jennifer
Jennifer asked Scott Hildreth:

If you ever decide to write a controversial book… would you be willing to listen to views outside of your own?

Scott Hildreth If you're asking about views prior to writing it, I think I would be inclined to listen and potentially act upon the advice. If you're asking about views after the completion of the manuscript, I would listen but more than likely would not act upon it.

Prior to writing a book, I become involved with my characters. Intimate with them and who they are. For instance, there are character defects, back story and certain ideals about all of my characters which are never revealed.

But it makes them who they are.

I simply don't reveal it in my writing.

If I am as intimate with my characters as I am, it makes it difficult to listen to an outsider's view regarding plot, subplot, backstory, procedure, etc.

They have no idea who the story is about or why....

So, let's see. .....Yes, I would listen. Depending on the source, I may consider the view in my writings.
