How much of your time do you devote to writing and do you have a discipline for particular writing times and days?

Becky Albertalli Great question - though I don't have a definite answer for this one! I'm a mom of a toddler and an infant, so I squeeze in writing whenever I can. I have childcare in the mornings, so that's when I get the most done. I also jump back into it on those rare and magical occasions when they're both napping. When I'm under deadline, I squeeze extra writing time in late in the evenings, on the weekends, and everywhere I can. These days, lots of writing happens with a baby in my lap. :-)

When I read the line "I'm just so sick of straight people who can't get their shit together" Simon became my favourite book of 2015! It just resonated with me in such an unexpected way! My question is: As a writer, how do you write from the POV of a character that is different from you? How do you make sure your characters don't stray into stereotype territory?
