Goodreads asked Lucinda Riley:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Lucinda Riley Read as many books by authors who lived in the period you are writing about as possible. But of course, it’s vital to develop your own personal ‘voice’.
• Let your imagination run wild – live, breathe and inhabit the worlds you write about and your characters. And never, ever think that anything you write is ‘unreal’ – the truth is really stranger than fiction and I have lots of emails from readers to prove it!
• If you have a bad day when nothing seems to be going right, don’t read back or tear up the pages in a rage. Simply get up the following morning and continue with your story.
• Above all, once you start, DO NOT STOP until you reach the end.
