Ken
Ken asked Peter V. Brett:

Hi Peter, I am writing my first book and I'm finding creating grey characters and making them hold to who they are as a difficult task. How do you go about your character creation and development? Do you do it in the beginning or as the story needs it?

Peter V. Brett They grow together. You will learn more about them as the story demands they make decisions. I don't like the term "gray characters" though. They are just characters. Everyone is gray. We all fail to be our best at times.
