Hi Erik, I am a new fan. As much as I love history and non-fiction, it surprises me that I didn't discover your books before now. Do you ever write fiction based on real events? Also, do you outline before rough draft? Thank you!

Erik Larson Glad to have you aboard! I've never written fiction based on real events. As to outlining: Yes, I often do construct an outline. And before I begin a book I always build a very broad outline of the entire book, to get a sense of where the narrative tension lies. The key, though, is rewriting.
