The first installment of Dune was my favorite and I read all of the others that Herbert wrote before his son took the reigns. I still think this one was his best work and the most compelling story. Although, I have a suspicion you will be drawn to at least read the second story, "Dune Messiah" simply out of curiosity.(less)
