Amanda asked Scott Sigler:

Hi, Scott! I'd like to start with thanking you for everything you've written. I appreciate your hard work and dedication to giving us a part of your mind to enjoy. Not only do I get enjoyment and knowledge out of your stories, I also draw inspiration from you - whether it be in my own writing/poetry, or in various other aspects of creativity. My question to you is - where do you like to draw your inspiration?

Scott Sigler Almost always my inspiration comes from two places: the worlds of science and nature, and things that scare the crap out of me. It's hard for me to watch any show on science, read an article about an animal or discovery, etc., and not come up with at least one story idea. Most of the time those ideas stray toward the frightening (example: look how fast those toads breed! What if they had big frickin' fangs and could only survive by drinking our cerebrospinal fluid?).

And then sometimes you see things that just frighten you. Yesterday's idea came from a baby's cry that echoed down the street. That noise just makes a human cringe, so what if that was the sound some kind of monster makes?

My mind is always, always, always coming up with new little ideas. Some are better than others, obviously, but that flow never ceases.
