Hi. Before Captain Vorpatrils Alliance was published, it was released and sold as an e-arc. I gathered at the time that was a bit of an experiment. Did that work out for you? Is that some thing you would consider doing with future releases? Assuming you have a say in such things, of course. I, for one, will buy anything you care to publish. Thank you. -Daiv

The e-ARCS are a Baen Thing. They do it for selected lead books, according to some calculation of their own.
The e-ARCS have worked out just fine for me, so far. One of the fringe benefits, I have found, is that we get several hundred free proofreaders, to catch all those little glitches that have escaped the editorial net so far (and there are always some.) One must filter out the things identified as mistakes which aren't, of course, and there is inevitable duplication, but on the whole I have found this beneficial.

Good afternoon! (I hope this question hasn't been asked; there's no way to search "Ask the Author" and you already have 1008 answered questions!) I've been wondering about the origin of the phrase "No artificial shortages!" that Uncle/Professor/Lord Auditor Vorthys likes. Online I found a brief modern use of the phrase on Twitter (someone talking about socialism), and not much else. Is it a quote, perhaps? Thank you!

Dear Mrs. Lois, I would like to build a subscription based online video platform where book authors can share short educational videos and engage in private conversations with their readers/fans. Would you be so kind to respond to my market research study in order to validare or invalidate my idea? If you agree, please let me know so I can send you the link. Thank you !
