This is …moreThis is late to answer, but just in case anyone else is curious, I'll say this: you do not have to read any other books to enjoy Red Country. This is the first book I've read by this author, and I was fine. I didn't feel like I was missing anything. You can tell that some characters might've shown up in his other books, but everything you need to know is here.

I read Some Desperado in the Dangerous Women anthology, and saw that it was a prequel of a sorts to Red Country, and so I picked this up. But you don't have to read Some Desperado any more than you have to read any of the First Law series.(less)
