I'm halfway through the book and I just don't get the hype over it. Please tell me that the 2nd half is better. Of course I am also one of the few people who was not blown away by Gone Girl. I so just want to read the end, but I promised myself I would stop doing that. lol. Did you like this book, and does the 2nd half get more exciting?

Julia Hörmayer It is but not good enough to deserve any of the hype.
Rachel I was in the same boat! I got about half way through and was just wanting to know how it ended. The second half does get a lot better and quicker paced and I think the ending was pretty good. Hang in there!
N Much more exciting. The first half was really slow for me but read the second half in one sitting because I couldn't put it down.
Midori all of the characters were unsympathetic, so i almost quit several times. probably wouldn't have missed 50 pps. out of the middle part. i'm happy i finished because it got better and i have closure.
Mindy I felt the same way, the first half of the book is a bit of a drag, the second half picked up a bit. The end was OK, I much prefer Gone Girl.
Cynthia I loved Gone Girl, and I still wasn't blown away by this book. As Rachel said, the last half is a bit less of a slog...but it you're hoping for a likeable character to appear then I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. I was impressed by her ability to write a book in which the characters have not a single redeeming quality amongst them. Maybe that's the hype?
Diane A. Barth I too am halfway through and hoping for a better second half. I agree that I have seen no redeeming characters. When I'm finished I feel the only thing I'll be able to say is that I read it. I will finish it however.
Patty Carretta I felt the same way. I don't get the hype either!
Jenny Prefontaine I found the second half to be better, yes. It picks up, much like a slow moving train gaining momentum. ;)
