Lynn Cecil
Lynn Cecil asked Andrew Pyper:

Your books make me feel like I’m viewing the world through lenses that expose the unseen, the darkness secreted inside of people, lying dormant, waiting hungrily in cellars, and I find myself literally feeling pulse-elevated scared. Do you ever find yourself frightened or haunted by your own writing, by what you are creating, or do you feel in control, knowing you are manipulating the darkness, adjusting the lenses?

Andrew Pyper Thank you for the eloquent question, Lynn! The truth is, I am less scared when I am writing a scene meant to evoke terror than I am creatively excited. When it is going well, I feel like I am getting close to the white centre of a flame, something hot and dangerous. But at the end of the working day, I close the door to my office. I tell myself it is to keep my children from coming in and wrecking my stuff, but the truth is I think I really do it to keep whatever spirits or thoughts I have conjured over the day inside that space and keep the rest of the house safe.
