Jilles asked Andrew Pyper:

Which books have had a major impact on your life that you wanted to become a writer...and a horror writer at that?

Andrew Pyper There are too many books I love and have influenced me to mention. But the ones that, looking back, nudged me into the supernatural and horror are relatively few: The Turn of the Screw by Henry James, Salems Lot by Stephen King, Ghost Story by Peter Straub, Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. And though they have nothing to do with horror, the gothic atmosphere of so many Alice Munro stories is there too.
