When did you know that you wanted to write a series? Which is harder to do - write a series or write a stand-alone?

Well, I'll be honest, I haven't done a standalone in so long I'm not sure!
One thing I will say can be quite difficult in a series is when you're writing a book with two established characters. If you're writing about only one established character, you can generally mold the other protagonist into what you need for the story you want. But if both characters are well-known to readers, it gets pretty tricky. I had a really hard time plotting Romancing Mr. Bridgerton for this reason.

Would ever switch genre? Like writing a young adult, paranormal, or fantasy novel? I love your writing style, your sense of humor, and the ability to make your readers fall in love with your characters. Also want to say that you're my favorite historical romance author!
