Goodreads asked Ruth Harrigan:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Ruth Harrigan If I get writer's block, I take a deep breath and lower my expectations of what I'll produce. Then I'll write down phrases and ideas until I write at least three or four pages at a sitting, which at some point usually turns into a story. I often use only bits and pieces of these writings, but the real silver lining to this method is I find that if I get 'stuck' in a work, reviewing my 'notes' helps me finish.
