Michael, what made you decide to have the pilot pick up with City of Bones (Book 8) vs. the first book in the novel series? Dom Armano

Michael Connelly We were looking for stories that would best reveal Harry’s character organically. We thought City of Bones – the death of a young boy – would emotionally connect him and reveal his relentlessness. We also used The Concrete Blonde because it involves a trial where Bosch is put on the witness stand and asked about his life. It was a realistic way to reveal the story of his mother and its impact on him.
