Lisa asked Michael Connelly:

Were you worried about casting Bosch since everyone has their own idea of what Harry should be? Titus Welliver was the perfect choice in my opinion.

Michael Connelly I was well aware that by adapting this character to the visual medium I would be playing with the most sacred part of the reading process: imagination. Anybody who reads one of these books builds an image in their head and that is Harry Bosch. I love that process as a reader. What we are doing is quite opposite. We are saying this is Harry Bosch. Titus Welliver is Harry Bosch. I know it won’t win everybody over and some people won’t watch because they want to stick with their imagination. I get that and respect it. But as a storyteller I want my stories translated into different languages, read audibly, and now presented visually. No one has to watch, no one is forced. But if you give it a chance I think you will be happy with what we’ve done. Titus might not look on the outside like the guy described in the books. But I think he looks just like him on the inside – and that’s what’s most important.
