The Fault In Our Stars and Playlist for the Dead are two very different books. I liked TFIOS a lot more than this one because the characters were so much more developed. PFTD just falls flat for me the author seems to be trying too hard. A lot of elements are very cliche also.

I loved the fault in our stars but it's nothing like this but you have to read this

I personally hated Thirteen reasons why and thought this novel was so much better. Much better 'reasons' behind the suicide, far more believable and no lame ending like 13 reasons. This novel is a solid teen read with male leads, which makes a change

After Thirteen Reasons Why, I needed a hug. After this, I felt a little.. deflated. Like Deflate-Gate bad. I wanted some revenge, and the neat tying up of loose ends (I doubt Astrid would have been so calm) really needled me. TFIOS, I sobbed at the end, I've yet to find someone who didn't. This did not have the same meaning, theme, or feel at all. if you want something that deals with death, but not so heavy handed, read this. But if you want something deep that really rattles you, 13 Reasons Why, or even Wherever by Gabrielle Zevin will do you.

This book is nothing like TFIOS and not even a fraction as good. So, no. Don't read it expecting it to be like that.
Cath
