Does this book stand alone in the series? I'm interested in reading it because its a Newbery winner, but not inclined to read four other books first if this one stands alone well.

N-boy I would read the whole series, I think it is all really good. And, if it makes any difference, the second book, the Black Cauldron, won a Newbery hono…moreI would read the whole series, I think it is all really good. And, if it makes any difference, the second book, the Black Cauldron, won a Newbery honor award. I also think that it is good to have background on the story which is given in the other books.(less)
