Goodreads asked Jezza Deep:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Jezza Deep First, read a LOT. This is the biggest thing you can do to develop skills.

Second, write a lot. This is the second biggest thing.

Thirdly, don't get caught up in perfection. Your first draft will suck. You will be a bad writer at first because you don't have the skills yet. That's why you're doing it, to develop the skills. Every first draft is perfect because all a first draft needs to do is to exist.

Don't jump ahead to worrying about publishing and marketing and should I go indie or trad or this or that? Without a first draft written, you have nothing to publish, market, or worry about anyway.

Just write.

Last, know that it will take a LONG time and a lot of HARD work and most writers don't make any money. If they're lucky they break even. So if you're in it for money look somewhere else or make sure you have a 9-5.
