Rosalie asked Julie Klassen:

I was wondering why you don't use British English in your books even though they take place in Britain. Almost all the books are in American English. Is it for American readers and for them to not wonder why it is spelt differently? I guess because you are an American writer, you use American English even if the books take place in Europe. I hope my comment doesn't come off as rude. >< I love your books. :)

Julie Klassen Hi Rosalie,
That is a good question. And you are on the right track with your guess--not only am I an American writer, but my editors and proofreaders are American as well, as are the majority of my readers. None of us are expert at British English--especially in contemporary terms. However, I do use some of the language and colloquialisms of the period to give my books a Regency feel. Hope that answers your question. Glad to hear you love the books!
