Were you ever conflicted about who Lily Haswell should end up with?

Julie Klassen Yes! After I wrote the first draft of the book, I found myself liking Roderick Marlow too much, so during rewrites I went back and made him a little darker. I also went back and made the man she ends up with a little more manly and appealing. I still hear from readers who like Marlow, the “bad boy.” Someday I may write a sequel focusing on him.
