I don’t think I have found the answer to that particularly but why did you chose “Halla”, was it Viking related ? Also, as it is “Allah” in reverse which is God in Arabic, to me I’ve always seen it as something related to some kind of spirituality. As if the goal was to preserve a certain way of life, a belief, to get to a sort of heaven…I may be totally wrong though haha

D.J. MacHale The answer is much simpler, and less interesting than your theories. Halla is everything. Every time, every place, every person that ever existed still exists in the sea of time and space. So I used simple root-word to come up with the name: all.

As someone who also has the tendency to stay dedicated to one vast fictional universe for a long period of time, I’m curious: how long before you began writing the merchant of death did you have the idea for Pendragon? And did you know how it would end when you began writing? Or did you make it up as you went along?

I emailed you a ton of times in my teens and was always awestruck when you would answer me back. I have every book you’ve written in hardcover first editions, except of course for The Equinox Curiosity Shop.
