(view spoiler)[Hi Nonilyn!
Lina and Andrius both survived. They found one another again when they returned to Lithuania and they got married.
Thank you for your questions. Perhaps one day there will be a sequel or companion novel and I want to cover the questions in the book so I can't give away the answers now. :-) (hide spoiler)]

I absolutely loved Salt to the Sea, and was ecstatic when I realized that Joana was Lina's cousin. The amount of research you do for your books reminds me why YA Hist Fiction is my favorite genre.
I was thrilled to see that BSOG is being adapted for film, and wondered how much of a role you had in bringing it to the screen. What input did you have in casting, did you have final approval of the screenplay, etc?

I have immensely loved Between Shades Of Grey. What I specifically liked was that you maintained a systematic contrast between history, love, hope, joy and sorrow. In addition to the fact that you were inspired by your family's history in Lithuania, I was wondering that what compelled you to write this remarkable novel?Thanks...

Hola Ruta! I have read twice Between shades of gray (In Spanish: "Entre tonos de gris"). I was amazed by Lina´s and her mother's strength. Thank you for this strong, moving and unforgettable story. Thank you for opening our eyes to this other holocaust. In your research, did you travel to Trofimovsk, Lina´s final destination? For what is known, was a real diary or capusule ever found? Greetings from Monterrey, México.
