I love it when a reader, especially a child, is caught up in this story I have labored over in love for a long time. It's such a gift!
It's like anything. When you are called to some vocation and you are moving forward in it, there's a pleasure that is hard to explain. So there have been moments of exquisite delight, both in the creation of a story, and then in the connection with readers. Mostly it's just long, hard work, but I love those moments of delight.
