Goodreads asked Theresa Howes:

How do you get inspired to write?

Theresa Howes So far, my novels have all been set in the past and so most of my inspiration comes from studying history and reading biographies, visiting museums and art galleries. Images can inspire as much as the written word. I’m particularly interested in the day to day details of people’s lives, in things we can all relate to, no matter what century or decade we were born in, and so even the most mundane comment passed down through time can inspire an idea or a character. As a sense of place is also important to me, travelling is also a great inspiration, whether it’s to somewhere just around the corner, or further afield.
