Read! Read good authors, classic authors, read some trash (just to know the comparisons). Develop an outstanding vocabulary and describe to yourself, quietly, everything you see, feel, or do. Finally, begin to put all that in words of your own and look for a plot. Join writing groups; listen to their stories, their critiques, their advice, and follow about 10% of all that.
