Goodreads asked Jessie McClain:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Jessie McClain When I first started The Dreamcatchers Saga it went by a different name and look. It took me two years to find a publisher, but when I did it was such a blessing to me. I didn't get accepted on my first submission letter by any means! And on more than a couple of occasions I wanted to give up. But I realized that giving up is just not how I operate. I've always believed that you are able to do in this life whatever it is you want. If you want it bad enough, make it happen. And that is what I've always told my children. So with persistence, my husband, and kids I continued. So I think that would be my best and honest advice. It sounds so cliche, but seriously you have to have tough skin, a backbone, and the ability to keep on going even if it seems pointless at the time. Patience and persistence will pay off in the end on it's own time:) And if you give up you will always wonder, "what could have happened if..." Don't live life with if's.
