Lois McMaster Bujold:
Dear Lois, I just want to say to you that I absolutely love your Chalion Trilogy. A huge compliment for your original and very engaging writing style! How dit you get this idea about demons infesting persons and creating havoc?
Lois McMaster Bujold
Well, demonic possession is a very old idea, both in fantasy as a reading genre, and in traditional folklore and (some) religion. In the World of the Five Gods, I'm just doing my own very different take upon the idea, because the underlying theology is so different from that of historical Europe, or indeed from any other real-world religion I've yet read about.
I explore my own construction in much greater depth in the Penric & Desdemona series, starting with the novella "Penric's Demon", if you've not got to that yet. (Show don't tell 'n all that.)

Lois McMaster Bujold:
Lois, can I ask you what your favorite fantasy book is? How do you like Isaac Asimov?

Lois McMaster Bujold:
I am an admirer of your work. One of your greatest talents is creating whole, interesting characters that make you want to follow the story, and the complete worlds the characters inhabit. When I start one of your books, I know I will escape into another dimension. When you write, do you set the stage (place and time), or does the character evolution do that for you? Do you use outlines in your creative process?

I note with regret that you say you are semi-retired. I assume that this means that your literary output will be at a slower pace than before. I am greedy for as many Bujold stories as possible. Would you ever consider working with younger co-authors to put out new books? I would expect that you would be reluctant to let Miles, Pen, Ivan, Elli, et al 'leave home', but other authors seem to be doing this.
