Val There's no violence or explicit sex, but there are cutaway scenes and it deals more with like the stress/responsibility of having to make choices and stick with them. There are a couple vaguely scary scenes, I guess? But nothing that would really limit it to adults instead of teens, in my opinion. Adults might find it more entertaining generally, but no promises either way with that, as it's definitely more dependent on personal tastes than age.
Mars I read it as a teenager. There is a little bit of (implied) sex but nothing worse than a pg-13 movie is shown. There is also some language (several uses of s**t and about 2 or 3 uses of f**k). Overall, nothing too bad. My public library shelved it as a YA graphic novel.
Irene Carracher Kistler It's definitely for older teens. I consider it mature YA because of the sexual relationships in the book.
Carling Bock There are scenes that may suggest sex and there is a normal amount of language and profanity. Don't let it discourage you, it's a great book.
