Literally same. While I don’t have the answer, one thing that stood out to me is that when she first met “Max” she said he was known by one name. I went on a deep dive of male mononym musicians, and the one that stands out to me as a potential is Beck. I do think her dad is Gerry Cagle (https://www.gerrycagle.com/about/) - which I’m sure will spark another deep dive. To be continued…

I think it might be Morrissey. She mentions The Smiths earlier when she was at camp with David. She said she recognized “Max” at the studio before he introduced himself. Punk’d ran from 2003 to 2012 and she got her PhD in 2008 so we’re looking for artists recording in LA around that time. He was recording albums in LA with Jerry Finn in 2003 (released ‘04) and another in 2007 (that didn’t get released until 2009). The lyrics for several songs on that album are intriguing. He also played the Hollywood Bowl in the summer of 2007. This was fun to try to figure out!

I don't know who those two are, but after looking into the artists her dad's company managed, I'm almost positive that the artist who was on Punk'd was Aly Michalka from Aly & AJ.

Pure speculation, I could only imagine John Mayer. And as an avid listener during his early years, Patric would be a fitting muse for many of John’s lyrics. Not to mention his trainwreck dating history. But what I really came to say is a lesser known song, comfortable, makes me fairly certain. He’s talking about a girl he loves who isn’t good and says “you could distinguish miles from Coltrane”. Soooo… 🎯?

Not sure about Max but I believe Everly is Bethany Joy Lenz. She was lead singer of a band called Everly for awhile

I just got to Everly’s part in the book, but my guess so far is Amy Lee from Evanescence. The names sound similar, boyfriend is Ben, who is also in the band (Ben Moody) and she has “sparkling blue eyes.”
