Amnesia plots fascinate me. Can you tell a bit about how you structured Before I Go to Sleep, and what the challenges were?
Thanks for your question! The biggest challenge was in trying to imagine how it might feel to have no memory or your past, and therefore no sense of a coherent self. But the structure of the book, and its first-person narration, led to lots of complications in the writing and editing of the book! I couldn't have Christine knowing something she hadn't written in an earlier journal entry, so every time I took something out I had to then go and check that she didn't refer to it later. Quite trying, as I'm sure you can imagine!
