I love reading about the cleverness of Cecile, especially when she outwits some of the trolls in Trollus. Cecile is a strong character that starts out just like how we'd all probably feel in the situation and adapts with determination and resiliency. Did you base any part of her off any favorite characters of your own?

Thanks so much for the great question! Cecile was not based on any particular person or character, but rather on my desire to make her very much a "real" girl. I wanted readers to be able to relate to her - to understand her mistakes and applaud her accomplishments. I wanted her to be a girl readers would admire despite her flaws, perhaps even because of them.
