A Goodreads user asked Sally Hepworth:

What kind of research did you feel was helpful to you in writing The Secrets of Midwives?

Sally Hepworth Hi Darlene,
As I am not a midwife, I had to do A LOT of research for this book. I started by reading everything I could get my hands on about midwifery—novels, memoirs, medical books—and then I watched hours of footage on high-risk deliveries (including footings!). I also subscribed to online communities and forums where I was able to ask questions about midwifery and touch base with several home-birth midwives and midwives alliance groups. Best of all, I have an aunt who is a midwife who was able to make suggestions and verify things for me.
Thanks for your question!
Sally
