Hello Alison...a question. I have spent the last ten years buried under the writing of a hard science/futuristic series of five novels. A small indie publisher in the UK is publishing 3 of the books this year and two next year. What is your best advice to me regarding marketing of this series? Congrats! I don't really have much advice on marketing, I am terrible at it. I will say that coming into reader spaces to sell books is hard--people here get very touchy when someone is just coming to share that they wrote a book. Goodreads does have author groups that can generate a lot of initial readers if you trade books etc. but if you want to engage with readers, do so as a reader! If your conversation appeals to folks, they tend to check out your profile and may engage further there.

The critiques of the "Star/Top Readers" carry weight here, yet I have encountered an unwillingness on the part of some of them to provide feedback. A couple read my first novel and gave it a single star. I have no problem with their rating, if they didn't like the book, they didn't like it. But when I reached out to them to ask why, they ignored me. How can we fix that?
