Is Kurc the real name of some of your family members? My family, that experienced the Holcaust in much the same way yours did, have the surname of Kurcbard. The family originally came from a small town in Poland called Konskie and settled later on in Lodz. Truly enjoyed and related to your book. Genevieve Kurcbard Juodvalkis

Hello Genevieve, yes Kurc is my family's real surname. My grandfather Americanized his name to Courts when he moved to the States but his siblings and their descendants still go by Kurc. Sounds like have some parallels in our family histories. Thank you for sharing!

What a great book 'We Were the Lucky Ones'. Your family history research, well presented in a clear & flowing format. Read it in 2 days, left me wishing for more. I've researched my family for 20 yrs & found I wasn't just British on Dad's side, but many of his forbears settled in Rhode Island & Massachusetts getting away from persecution as Quakers. This was back in the 17th century. Will you write a sequel ?

Hi Georgia, i have just finishied binge-watching „We were the lucky ones”. I came from Radom and although I do not live there anymore I know the places where your family used to live. This is so incredibly sad that all this rich jewish culture is gone from Poland. I have a question regarding the hiding place of Sol and Nechuma - do you know if the family hiding them received Righteous Among the Nations?

I absolutely loved reading "We Were the Lucky Ones" so thank you for writing it. You said it took almost a decade of research, travel, interviews, and drafting to put out the book. I can imagine that at times, what you discovered was heavy and quite emotionally taxing. Was there ever a point you wanted to give up and drop the whole idea? And if so, what kept you going?
