I’m currently in the middle of reading The Book of Doors and find myself not able to put it down- it’s so good. I’m curious what other books have you read that you loved and used for inspiration in the making of this book?
Gareth Brown
Hi Paola - thanks for the question. I am not sure I have can name specific books that served as a direct inspiration for The Book of Doors... but books I loved that might have similar elements to parts of my novel would be The Anubis Gates by Tim Powers and Replay by Ken Grimwood - both deal with time travel. I would also name something like Red Dragon by Thomas Harris which is a dark thriller. And maybe Hyperion by Dan Simmons, which is a complex science fiction novel with flashes of horror and powerful scenes about human relationships. Hope that helps.

Mr. Brown, I just finished “The Book of Doors”. It was one of the most beautiful, thoughtful, and captivating books I’ve ever read. I have to know if Hugo Barbery uses the book of faces to become Mr. Webber? I can’t wait for a sequel if it ever happens!

Hi there! I just finished the audio book and loved it. I have a SPOILER question though, I feel like I missed something in the plot and because of the audio book I’m having trouble finding it (vs an ebook where I can do a proper search). Where did Cassie get the book of doors the second time, after the ten years wait? Does she get it from herself? Time travel paradox, revealed next book, or did I just miss it?

Hi Gareth! This is the first time I have reached out to an author to sing praises, but I have to say that your book has changed the game for me. I was devastated when I looked you up and found that this was your debut novel and there was not another book I could immediately buy that was written by the fabulous Gareth Brown? I am waiting with bated breath. Your book is a treasure and something to truly be cherished!
