[Answering questions that I wasn't able to get to during our book launch party.] From Kati: "Which characters or scenes (if any) were modeled directly on your own experience? I.E., did you have a PG or Josiah in your youth group? Did you pee on Target? Did you kill Diablo with health potions? Etc."

(view spoiler)[There are lots of hints of specificity in here, and all settings and church-world descriptions are essentially transcribed, but all the real memories, settings, and events are filtered through fiction. So I can find bits of me, my old friends, and my new friends' memories in every scene, but it's hard to say there are any that are 100% the same.
Still:
- PG could be considered something of a combination of band-dork me and a missionary-adopted girl in our youth group, not that I planned it that way or "based" her on anybody.
- We had a couple moments like Josiah's outing, but never the pastor's son — though that's surely happened many times at other similar churches.
- We did so many late-night goofball hijinks, probably more than the average non-church kid, but I can't recall specifically peeing on a Target. We definitely peed off roofs, though. Haha I just wrote that on the literature website
- The auradin build in Diablo II, which is based around leveling up passive boosts and becoming a walking bug zapper, is real.
Oh wait, here's my answer: When PG's metalcore band curiously finds itself opening for megabland CCM band NewSong at the county fair, that was my band. (hide spoiler)]
