Jeffrey asked Glynnis Campbell:

FEW YEARS AGO, I READ SOMETHING THAT I THOUGHT WAS FUNNY. "CHOCOLATE WAS MADE IN HEAVEN BUT THER DEVIL PUT THE CALORIES IN IT WHEN IT CAME TO EARTH." WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS QUOTE?

Glynnis Campbell That's a funny quote! I've always wondered who was the first person to think, "Hey, this weird, slimy bean might make a great food...if we harvest, ferment, dry, roast, and grind it. Then we could add an alkali compound, press out the liquor, and grind again. If we add a little sugar and some fat, voila!" It seems like just about anything would taste good after all that! (I always wish medieval Scotland had chocolate so I could sneak it into my books.)
