Dear Josh. When you write a piece, do you write the story first? Or do you write the characters first? Also, do you have models for each character's visuals and inner personality?

Hi Azu! That's an interesting question. Usually the "spark" or inspiration for a story comes through the characters and their conflict. The story develops from there. But occasionally, I'll get an idea based on a particular location or something that I've stumbled across in earlier research--an unsolved mystery or a true crime story or even some tragic event that I want to "correct" in my own mind by writing a better, if fictional, outcome.
I always know how the characters look, though sometimes it's sort of vague in the beginning. Psychological details usually evolve as the characters interact and their backgrounds become clearer to me.

Hello. Several of my covers changed on my Lanyon ebooks recently (e.g., This Rough Magic, Blood Red Butterfly). This happened once before and then they switched back before I could complain....is it a permanent change or is there a way to switch back to previous edition? I am somewhat cover-centric as I fondle my ebook treasure trove....

Hi, In the Adrien English series, it seems to me that the S/M element for Jake was not really addressed. Jake clearly enjoys/needs this or he wouldn't be doing it. Adrien describes himself as "vanilla" and not into that scene. How will Jake be satisfied with Adrien when their sexual needs are so different? How long would Jake be satisfied with "vanilla" before his need for S/M would crop up again?
