Darynda Jones Hi Rose and thank you! Yes, so my oldest son is Deaf and I got my bachelor's in interpreting from UNM a very long time ago. I interpreted for many years before becoming a full-time writer. That story about Amber signing "very special" actually happened to me, only it was my niece, Ashlee, and she was learning sign from her 2nd grade teacher at the time. I remember being so taken aback when she signed that, OF ALL THINGS, and when I tried to gently show her the proper way to sign it, the little stinker argued with me, saying her teacher knows a lot of signs. Yes. Yes, she did. LOL.
