Hey all! I'm an English teacher in a state with VERY strict rules on book content in schools. Those rules are that a book can't depict sex (though it can allude to it), and it can't show genitalia. I know that the first book in this series is all clear, but if anyone can advise on the rest of the books in this series, I'd appreciate. :) What kind of content are we looking at?

Hello! Heartstopper volume 5 does talk about sex and what it means to different types of people. It doesn't show sex, but very heavily alludes to it. I wouldn't recommend volume 5 of heartstopper since your state is so strict. However, the rest of the series you're fine (vol 1-4).

Sex is definitely a big focus in this volume, but it's really only talked about, and not shown. It shows Nick and Charlie kissing and taking shirts off. They are shown shirtless. The previous volumes contain no sex, just kissing so they should be fine.

Book 5 has sex, but it's not graphic. It shows them taking shirts off, hugging, and kissing in bed, so you generally know what's going on, but there's nothing explicit about it. I'm not sure if that would count as "depicting" or "alluding". It also shows Nick buying condoms and lube.
Books 1-4 don't have any of that. Book 3 does have a scene where Nick and Charlie make out in bed, and Nick gives Charlie a hickey, but then they talk about how they're not ready for sex yet.
