Goodreads asked Tami Hoag:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Tami Hoag Aside from getting to go to work dressed like a vagrant, the best thing about being a writer--actually, the best thing by far--is when I hear from a reader that one of my books helped them in some way. I've had people tell me they had never read a book all the way through until one of mine caught their interest. Now they're avid readers. I've had crime victims write and tell me that one of my books touched them in a way that helped them heal. I've had people say reading one of my books helped them through an illness. That's all incredibly profound and humbling.
